Press Release: Michael Allegretti Signs Taxpayer Protection Pledge
Washington, DC - Michael Allegretti, candidate for US Congress in NY-13, has signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge. Michael has put in writing that he will not raise taxes if elected to Congress. Following the January 20th signing, Michael said the following regarding the pledge,
“It is with great pride that I sign this pledge to ensure that, if elected, our representation will hold itself to a standard of fiscal responsibility, smaller government, and responsible representation in Congress. The way to stimulate the economy is by lowering taxes and giving the small businesses of Staten Island and Brooklyn a chance to succeed.
“Government intrusion, government takeovers, and raising taxes will continue to worsen the economic downturn that we are facing today, and I urge Michael McMahon to join me in signing this pledge. “
According to the Americans for Tax Reform,
In the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, candidates and incumbents solemnly bind themselves to oppose any and all tax increases. While ATR has the role of promoting and monitoring the Pledge, the Taxpayer Protection Pledge is actually made to a candidate's constituents, who are entitled to know where candidates stand before sending them to the capitol. Since the Pledge is a prerequisite for many voters, it is considered binding as long as an individual holds the office for which he or she signed the Pledge. (www.atr.org)
